The Law Office of Michael Swink

At the Law Office of Michael Swink we provide excellent representation for an affordable price.  One of the biggest problems with the justice system is access to justice.  In a criminal case, a federal, state, or local prosecutor uses unlimited resources against you.  While you are entitled to a public defender, should you qualify, they are likely handling hundreds of cases.  In most civil cases, you are not entitled to an attorney at all.  Consequently, you have to go into debt or lose everything just to be heard in court.  The outcome, mostly the wealthy have access to the court. That is why at the Law Offices of Michael Swink we offer affordable and transparent pricing, discounts based on income* and, in some cases, pro bono or free** representation.  The view that everyone deserves excellent representation for a reasonable price was instilled in Michael throughout law school and his work in the public and private sectors following law school.

Michael graduated top of his class from a social justice and public interest law school.  During law school, he was a law clerk for the Seventh Judicial District of Maryland and the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia.  Additionally, Michael served as a writing instructor and research assistant during law school, helping other students and professors with legal writing and research.  Furthermore, Michael was a semi-finalist in the DC Cup Moot Court Competition, competing against some of the best law schools in the nation.  Finally, Michael received numerous scholarships for outstanding academic performance and dedication to public service.  After law school, Michael worked as a Deputy State Public Defender in El Paso County, Colorado, where he litigated criminal cases daily and fought to keep people out of jail.  As a public defender, Michael saw first hand the vast number of people that need representation as well as  how busy most public defenders are.  After serving as a Deputy Public Defender, Michael worked as a private attorney for a boutique law firm in the Denver area, litigating mostly criminal and domestic relations cases.  Working in private practice showed Michael that, for most attorneys, money is all that matters in the legal world and many individuals rarely get access to justice, especially in civil cases.  The Law Office of Michael Swink advocates in criminal and family law cases for a reasonable price.  Call us today for a free, no-obligation initial consultation.
